Container drayage through the Port of New York and New Jersey
Azzurro Final Mile Logistics coordinates import and export container drayage through Port Newark, Port Elizabeth and the wider Port of New York and New Jersey. We are based in Rahway, minutes from the terminals, and this gateway is the core of our business. Freight forwarders, customs brokers, importers, manufacturers and distributors use us to get a box off the terminal and to the consignee without chasing four different parties for status.
Every move is handled by one accountable operations contact who coordinates the terminal appointment, the chassis, the inland transportation and the proof of delivery. Transportation is arranged through our qualified motor-carrier network, which gives us dedicated access to drayage capacity at the NY/NJ terminals rather than whatever happens to be available that morning.
Terminals we cover
We coordinate container pickups across the full NY/NJ terminal complex and the North Jersey rail ramps.
- Port Newark — import and export container pulls, including refrigerated boxes and time-sensitive cargo.

- Maher Terminals — high-volume import container coordination and inland transportation.
- PNCT — Port Newark Container Terminal pickups with cross-dock and transload options.

Geographic coverage from the NY/NJ gateway
Our New Jersey base gives us strong access to the port and to the commercial and industrial centers around it, including Newark, Elizabeth, Rahway, Linden, Carteret, Woodbridge, Edison, Secaucus, Bayonne and Jersey City. We deliver throughout New Jersey, all five boroughs of New York City, Long Island, the Hudson Valley and Connecticut.
When a container needs to move well beyond the region, the same operations contact coordinates the inland leg through our nationwide truckload transportation network, so the handoff from drayage to line-haul does not become your problem.
Equipment options
The right equipment depends on the container, the commodity and the delivery site. We coordinate access to container chassis for standard and refrigerated boxes, 53-foot dry van and refrigerated trailers for transloaded freight, and reefer box trucks and sprinter vans for deliveries into locations that cannot take a full-size unit. Liftgate and pallet-jack delivery is available for commercial locations without a dock.
Customers and cargo we serve
We work with freight forwarders, customs brokers, NVOCCs, importers, manufacturers, distributors and 3PLs. Commodities regularly moving through this gateway for our customers include pharmaceuticals, perishables and produce, chocolate and confectionery, chilled and frozen food, general foodstuffs, retail and consumer goods, industrial materials and construction materials headed to a job site.
Temperature-sensitive cargo is coordinated according to the customer's handling instructions, with temperature monitoring and documentation available based on the equipment selected and the requirements of the shipment. For a fuller picture of how we handle these commodities, see our refrigerated and specialized cargo page.
Cross-dock and cold storage at the port
Not every container should go straight to the consignee. When the delivery appointment is days out, when a full container needs to be split across several destinations, or when the cargo needs to be held at temperature, we coordinate New Jersey cold-storage and cross-dock services through qualified warehouse partners near the terminals. The container is devanned, the freight is staged, and the final legs go out on the equipment each delivery actually needs.
When one of those final legs is only a few cartons and it has to be there today, it moves on our NJ expedited courier and same-day delivery service rather than waiting for a full vehicle.

Frequently asked questions
Do you provide after-hours port drayage support?
Yes. Our operations team is reachable 24/7 for urgent, nighttime and weekend requirements. Actual pickup times depend on terminal operating hours, appointment availability and carrier capacity, and we will tell you honestly what is achievable for your last free day.
Which NY/NJ terminals do you cover?
Port Newark, Port Elizabeth, APM Terminals, Maher Terminals, PNCT, GCT Bayonne, Global Terminal and Red Hook, along with the North Jersey rail ramps for intermodal containers.
Can you move containers outside New Jersey?
Yes. We coordinate regional and long-haul container moves and nationwide truckload capacity. We also coordinate strong container capacity on the West Coast at the Port of Oakland and the Ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach.
Can you handle refrigerated containers?
Yes. We coordinate refrigerated container transportation and temperature-controlled inland moves for perishables, foodstuffs, pharmaceuticals and other temperature-sensitive freight. Temperature requirements are coordinated according to your handling instructions.
Do you offer cross-dock or cold storage near the port?
Yes, through qualified New Jersey warehouse and cold-storage partners. We coordinate container devanning, pallet transfers, consolidation, deconsolidation and delivery-appointment staging so freight is not sitting on a chassis waiting for a door.
How do I get a container quote quickly?
Send the terminal, container size and type, commodity, gross weight, availability date, last free day and delivery address, plus whether the move is a live unload or a drop. That is enough for us to price the move accurately the first time.
